Location: North County & Central San Diego (Multiple sites)
Job Type: Non-exempt, full-time (40 hours per week)
Pay: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour

Position Overview:
The Youth Group Facilitator mentors and facilitates supportive group circles for youth boys age 12 – 17 years old. The Group Facilitator is responsible for implementing Boys to Men Mentoring Network’s (B2M) mentoring curriculum topics and philosophy to support boys affected by emotional barriers such as domestic violence, divorce, abuse, neglect, depression, anxiety, fatherlessness, juvenile delinquency, and education failure.
The Group Facilitator leads these support circles along with volunteer mentors through a check-in process that builds trust within the circle, creating a safe space for boys to express their emotions and feel heard. The facilitator guides boys toward making positive decisions by fostering inner empowerment and self-belief.
Responsibilities:
● Group Facilitation
- Facilitate 9-12 group circle meetings per week (up to 40 hours/week) at various school campuses as assigned.
- Maintain attendance records in the database as required.
- Build professional relationships with school site administration through weekly check-ins.
- Adhere to mandated reporting requirements to ensure participant safety.
● School Partnership Operations
- Assist with school partner engagement and onboarding, adhering to the agreements and MOUs that are in place with each partner organization.
- Assist the Program Manager and School Partner POC in organizing and scheduling meetings.
- Support program outcome metrics by conducting, gathering, and tracking pre- and post-program participant surveys, as well as school partner feedback surveys.
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and other applicable regulations.
● Mentor Support
- Assist with mentor recruitment outreach, communications, event promotion, development, and retention.
- Support mentor-focused events and training/workshops.
● Event Coordination
- Assist in coordination and recruiting for sponsored Adventure Mountain Weekends, summer activities, community engagement activities, and events, both program and fundraising-related activities, as needed.
- Responsibility for communicating with School Partner POCs and participants’ parents to promote and confirm event attendance as well as coordinating and/or providing direct transportation.
- Attend and staff three Adventure Mountain Weekends for new initiates.
- Support events and activities to engage participants beyond their schools (e.g., surfing, hiking, community volunteering).
● General Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of all BTM-related information.
- Provide timely and quality communication.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
● Experience and Education
- 2-3 years of group facilitation experience or experience working with groups of 8 or more youth boys (middle and high school) in a classroom, after-school, or recreation environment. Experience in the mental health field preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or Psychology, or equivalent experience, preferred. GED or High School Diploma, required.
- Current students in social work, psychology, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
● Skills
- Strong skills in human relations, listening, and problem-solving.
- Experience with computers (MS Office programs, calendaring, email software, and internet research).
- Demonstrates honesty, integrity, commitment, and enthusiasm in all work-related endeavors.
- Leadership abilities with good communication, social skills, strong analytical skills, and multi-tasking ability.
- Trustworthy and models positive professional behaviors; maintains confidentiality and professionalism.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
● Other Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation, necessary insurance, ability to drive a company vehicle when necessary, and provide MVR issued by the DMV.
- Must pass LIVE Scan fingerprinting, criminal background check, and comply with weekly COVID testing and TB testing as required by partnering schools.
- Must be available to consistently work 8-hour day shifts, some nighttime hours, some weekends, and occasional 12-hour shifts. Availability to work occasional weekend overnight shifts is strongly preferred.
